Dear Dr. Carreira,

Wow! I don’t know where to begin to thank you for putting Spencer back together again!  When he was injured back in January, it felt like such a whirlwind – it truly was a blur, and we were completely overwhelmed (both Spencer and us as parents). You were amazingly responsive from the moment Michael sent you the x-rays to getting him into surgery the very same week as the injury (incredible!) We know it took moving mountains on your part to treat him so quickly, and we can’t thank you enough.

At every follow-up appointment, you gave us reassurance that he would heal and be back on the soccer field as soon as possible. You were so very caring and thoughtful with the way you spoke to Spencer, and I’m so grateful for the concern you had for his mental state as much as his broken foot. It truly felt like you understood how completely devastated he was not to be playing, and you validated his feelings while also having the perfect words to encourage him that it was all going to be okay.

You treated Spencer as though he was your own family member, and although “thank you” feels completely inadequate, please know that I will always be so grateful for you.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for Spencer – I wish you could have seen his face when we were walking out of your office today – the relief he clearly felt and the big smile he had on were the best “happy ending” to this chapter in his life.
