Dominic S. Carreira, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the foot and ankle surgery and hop preservation. He is member of the Florida Institute of Orthopaedic Surgical Specialists (FIOSS) in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Carreira specializes in hip arthroscopy as well as foot and ankle treatments, with an emphasis on minimally invasive arthroscopy techniques.
Dr. Carreira has experience working with athletes across the country. He has served as an assistant team physician to the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins (now the Miami Marlins), Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Blaze as well as both the Men’s and Women’s U.S. Ski Teams.
Dr. Carreira is committed to advancing the field of orthopaedics through medical research. He has presented his work in over 100 presentations and publications both nationally and internationally. He has been published in several prestigious journals including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of Arthroscopy and Related Research, Foot and Ankle International, and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Carreira is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of several medication associations including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy. He has been practicing medicine since 2000. Dr. Carreira is the found of the MASH Study Group, a research group focused on adolescent and young adult hip treatments.
