Presenting to the Colombian Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology

Earlier this year, Dr. Dominic Carreira was the invited international speaker for the Foot and Ankle section of theColombian Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (SCCOT). This is the main annual meeting of the Colombian Orthopedic Society. This year the meeting took place in Cartagena, Colombia from May 10-13, 2017.

A Range of Foot and Ankle Injuries and Treatments

As an invited presenter, Dr. Carreira presented several topics, including osteochondral lesions of the talus, posterior impingement of the foot and ankle, hallux rigidus, and ankle arthritis. He covered both nonoperative and operative treatments in detail. Dr. Carreira also lectured on minimally invasive techniques – which are the main areas of interest of Dr. Carreira’s work and research – covering some diagnoses as an alternative to open surgery.

Born and raised in the USA, Dominic Carreira grew up in a dual-language home in suburban Chicago. He is fluent in both English and Spanish. As such, he is uniquely positioned to welcome and treat patients from across the USA and from throughout the Caribbean.
