In June 2010, Dr. Dominic Carreira spoke to Miami’s WPLG Local News about hip arthroscopy and repairing hip labral tears. In an interview with the Miami news station, Dr. Carreira explained newer medical procedures in hip arthroscopy.
In the video, Dr. Carreira offers insight into advanced hip arthroscopy, explaining that modern surgical techniques are geared towards using existing tissue from a patient where possible. Dr. Carreira explained that in some instances, hip arthroscopy can be performed with allograts, that is, with tissue from a cadaver to replace the patient’s injured tissue. These procedures are typically for younger patients who do not suffer from arthritis.
The video is also posted on the Broward Health Medical Center website.
